Meet Our Team

Pete is a trial lawyer with a wide-ranging practice focused on representing parties in complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts and before administrative bodies. He enjoys guiding clients through difficult litigation as well as the Alternative Dispute Resolution process, including mediation and arbitration.

Pete received his B.S. in Environmental Geography from the United States Military Academy, where he was a four-year varsity letterman on the Army swimming team. After graduating from West Point, Pete served five-years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Officer; he was stationed in Oklahoma, Fayetteville, N.C., and Kuwait while he was in the military. Pete left the Army as a Captain in 2016.

Pete received his J.D. from Campbell University, where he served as a Teaching Assistant for 1L Legal Research and Writing classes and received the Book Award for Bankruptcy Reorganizations.

In his free time, you can find Pete in the outdoors somewhere. Pete is passionate about hunting and fishing, likes to snowboard, and loves watching Army beat Navy in any sport.

Katie is a North Carolina Board Certified Paralegal and Notary. She graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice.

Katie was born in California, grew up in Maryland but now calls North Carolina her home. Recently she has moved to Mooresville. Katie enjoys playing sports, bass fishing, and listening to true crime podcasts in her free time.

Reilly is a Paralegal and handles research, filings, scheduling, and daily operations with discipline and precision.

Reilly was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but has called North Carolina home for the past 20 years. Reilly graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a B.A. in Political Science.

In his free time, Reilly enjoys weightlifting, watching football and spending time with his two dogs and volunteering at the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter.

Rey is a black Labrador Retriever who has been assisting Attorney Colbert since law school. Originally from White Level, North Carolina.

She graduated from Beaverdam Kennel’s Basic Dog Obedience Training Program in 2025. Between naps, Rey will occasionally showcase her obedience and listening skills, but none the less, she is still a highly valued member of the Colbert Law team. In her free time, you can find Rey playing fetch with her humans or swimming in the lake.
